Open & Shut: This week in restaurant openings and closings

Openings

Jujubeet
If you love fresh and healthy juices then you’ll be excited to learn that Jujubeet is opening up a new café in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Seattle. This will be the company’s fifth location opening up in the Seattle area.

Little Lago
Is now open as well! Little Lago is a spin-off of Montlake’s popular Café Lago. The Italian place sells common grocery goods, rotisserie chickens, pizzas baked in a stone hearth, and Italian sandwiches made to order.

Chik-Fil-A
With a slogan that reads “Eat More Chicken” you’ll be happy to hear that Chick-fil-A will open up another restaurant in Puyallup so you can, you know, eat more chicken. According to Puyalluppost.com Chick-fil-A will open its doors in early 2017, which will be its fourth location in the PNW.

Circadia
This fine dining establishment has opened on Olive Way and thinks “luxurious dining doesn’t have to be boring and pretentious.” How intriguing! They also claim to incorporate "elements of flora, fauna, sea, earth and sky." We don't' completely know how you add sky into a dish, but are excited to find out!

Sweet Iron
You’ll no longer have to think about getting authentic Belgian waffles only in Belgium. Sweet Iron just opened its doors last month in Capitol Hill, and serves authentic Belgian waffles with European imported ingredients. Sweet Iron Waffle Bar will be open for brunch and late-night hours.

Raccolto
West Seattle welcomes its new restaurant, Raccolto! The same people who opened Madrona’s Vendemmia and East Anchor Seafood have opened up their new Italian-inspired restaurant in West Seattle!

Pressed Juicery
Juicers are apparently all the buzz now! Opening in Westlake Center on Wednesday, December 7, this is the first location opening in the Pacific Northwest. Additional Seattle locations are slated to open in early 2017. Currently, the brand has 48 locations throughout the country with plans to continue expansion into both new and existing markets.

Copal
This new Latin American inspired bar just opened up in Pioneer Square. Their specialty is in "sunny drinks" to transport you to warm and tropical places, and wood-fired food.

Southpaw
This new pizza place officially opened its doors on December 12th! It's located in the original Lark space at 926 12th Avenue in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Pokéworks
Poke tuna has taken the world by a storm and we couldn't be more thrilled about it. Pokeworks is a poke bowl/poke burrito joint located in downtown Seattle and is now expanding to Bellevue in January of 2017.

Closings

Martino's Smoked Meats
Martino's Smoked Meats, who specializes in California-style steak sandwiches closed their doors on December 4th, according to Eater. Co-owners Chris Martino, Chris Gerke, and Chris Navarra (could there be anymore Chris’?!) said that both the back and front of the store are just too small. They haven’t written off opening a new store in the future.

Seattle Cookie Counter
In the same neighborhood, Seattle Cookie Counter will also be closing their doors. The vegan ice cream and cookie company is shutting down after less than six months in their new home, according to Eater. They have a gofundme.com account if you want to donate to try and help them stay alive!

The Shanty Café
Say farewell and adieu to the Shanty Tavern in Seattle Queen Anne Neighborhood, that's been serving guests since 1914. The building was purchased by El Charro Mexican Food and Cantina.

Queen City Grill
This Belltown restaurant has been ordered to vacate it’s space by January 2nd, after being open for 30 years. Plymouth Housing Group is a nonprofit that leases to 15 commercial tenants including Queen City Grill, and said that the closing is due to financial problems, according to Puget Sound Business Journals.

Thai Heaven
Thai Heaven on Lower Queen Anne just shut its doors after serving up Thai for Seattleites since 1988. After a short remodel, it's rumored that a Chinese restaurant will be taking its place at the end of the month.
