Open & Shut: This week in restaurant openings and closings


Cafe Hitchcock Express. Cafe Hitchcock Express is opening up in late April and will focus on coffee, wellness lattes, cold-pressed juice and grab-and-go items. CHE will be located in the Exchange Building, that's also home to Cafe Hitchcock. For now it is only a pop-up through the end of summer - but they are hoping to make the former Tully's Coffee location their permanent location.

Macrina Bakery. You know 'em, you love 'em. Macrina is opening it's fifth location in the space formerly occupied by Tully's in Capitol Hill.

Red Star Taco Bar. This Fremont favorite is making the move down south to Tacoma! Red Star just opened up their doors in the old Maxwell's spot in T-Town. The menu is full of - as you can probably guess - tacos and a bar with over 50 types of tequila.

Little Neon Taco. Brought to you by Monica Dimas, Little Neon Taco is a spin-off of the taco counter that Dimas runs out of the Capitol Hill bar Nacho Borracho, reports Eater. When the First Hill restaurant opens they will have a lunch and dinner menu and will *fingers crossed* branch out to weekend brunch.

Dynasty Room. This new bar just opened up in the International District. The food menu isn't set yet, but according to Eater diners can expect items like chicken wings, deep-fried eggplant, dried squid, Korean rice cakes, and other Chinese and Korean street foods.

Junkichi. Junkichi is opening its doors in Capitol Hill and will offer two distinct Japanese dining experiences: izakaya and robat, reports Eater. Izakaya refers to an informal pub style where robata is less common but specializes in food grilled over carbon-charcoal binchotan.

Claret. Heavy Restaurant Group has opened Claret's tenth location in Wallingford! The new wine bar will share space with Thackeray Kitchen and Bar. The global wine bar will feature 200 wines by the bottle, 50 wines by the glass and half-glass 'duos' of every varietal offered on the glass pour menu.

Table 47. This Gig Harbor restaurant opened their doors earlier this month and focuses on local, responsibly-sourced farm-fresh cuisine! Highlights include smoked BBQ brisket nachos, farm beet salad, butternut squash flatbread, local oysters, roasted farm chicken and the blended Parallel Burger Table 47 is the passion project from former Starbucks COO.

Rel'lish. This burger lounge just opened at SeaTac in Concourse B! The menu features more than a half-dozen burger options built with creative toppings. Flaming hot cheetos is even on the docket!


El Diablo Coffee Co. You may know this Queen Anne coffee shop and are sad to see it close just like many of us are! El Diablo was served a notice to vacate their premises at the end of April. El Diablo is working with their leasing agent to see if they can come up with a solution to stay in their location. Learn more on their Facebook page here.

Marée Bistro. This Alki Beach restaurant just closed its doors in early April. Management said that they couldn't sustain, expand, or elevate Chef Andy's cuisine so thought it was time to bow out.

Phnom Penh Noodle House. This Cambodian restaurant is closing its doors after 30 years in the International District. The restaurant is closing due to financial issues and family matters, reports Eater.
