*Note: This visit was when Hash was still offering dine-in services. As of this posting, they are still open - but only for takeout.
“We have to plan a breakfast date - that new place on Harrison is AMAZING!”
My best friend never lies; especially when it comes to food I’ll love - so we pulled out our calendars and made plans to meet up for a morning shindig at Hash, Olympia’s newest breakfast joint.
Since that fateful morning when I fell in love with Hash’s menu and quick service despite being perpetually busy, I have enjoyed both dine-in and take-out meals. From their namesake to eggs benedict to omelettes, you truly can’t go wrong. Plus, all meals are served with a divine little appetizer - cornbread and berry butter spread. Who knew breakfast required cornbread?!? But now, thanks to Hash, I know. Every good breakfast begins with a square of cornbread topped with a pat of melting sweetness.
Essentially, I’m here to confirm that the rumors are true - Hash is no doubt vying for Olympia’s best breakfast joint. Perhaps all of the South Sound!
During my dine-in experience I was pleased to see that they are following all safety protocols to a tee. There is plexiglass between tables, servers and cooks are all appropriately masked, and when a wait forms, guests sign in and then wait outside until called. I ordered the Traditional Benedict plus tomato sub jalapeno hollandaise (because I guess I’m particular like that they didn’t care though and served my meal just as requested) and my bestie opted for the Applewood Smoked Ham and Gouda Omelet. Both were served with breakfast potatoes, which were not your run-of-the-mill hashbrown; 10x better thanks to the seasoning and medley of peppers and onions.
We shared bites and can’t wait to visit again to try another two meals. What will it be, you ask? Maybe the Croissant Monte Cristo, maybe the Beecher’s Breakfast Poutine! Probably the Blueberry Pistachio Pancake that they claim is big enough to share. Every breakfast needs a little side of sweet, right?
When I returned for take-out less than a week later, my experience was a breeze. I was able to order and pay online and pick-up at the requested time. My food, the Veronica breakfast sandwich, was perfectly prepped and packaged and although I intended to drive home and eat, I parked around the corner and dove into my Hash breakfast sandwich. I just couldn’t wait! They even include that dreamy cornbread with take-out orders. Thank goodness!
As of today, Hash is only open for take-out. Keep up to date on their current status by visiting the website before you make plans to stop by. But definitely go! They have proved that take-out is part of their DNA so help keep them busy by placing your orders and enjoying this amazing breakfast joint with those in your circle.
Hash is closed on Mondays, so don’t start the week off craving their food. Rather, place your order sometime between Tuesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. or on the weekends from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
