Cocktail of the Week: Tipperary

Sure, a glass of wine or a beer is a nice way to unwind – but every now and then, you deserve a happy hour that's a little more...hmmm. What's the word? Refined! Kelly Sparks of Queen Bee Mixology is graciously sharing a new cocktail with us every week, just in time for Happy Hour. Queen Bee is raising the bar for cocktails made at home with recipes that are both easy – and delicious! Want more? The Tipperary proves that the Irish know how to make a great cocktail — it takes its name from the song "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" sung by Irish Soldiers during WWI and gets its piquant flavor from the unique addition of green chartreuse. For the full Queen Bee experience, we highly recommend the final presentation with a threaded cherry and orange peel garnish.

  • 1.5 oz. Irish whiskey
  • 1 oz. sweet vermouth
  • .5 oz. green chartreuse
  • .5 oz. chilled water
  • 1 bar spoon of sugar
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Garnish with orange peel wrapped Luxardo cherries

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice and stir until well chilled
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass
  3. Garnish with orange peel wrapped Luxardo cherries
