The Butterfly Tonic is a gorgeous drink with brilliant colors. The Butterfly Pea Flower Tea — mixed with the mint syrup — is a refreshing splash that only enhances the honey and mint notes found in the 1884 Uncle Nearest Whiskey. This drink will brighten any party from the inside and out.
INGREDIENTS
- Uncle Nearest 1884
- Lime juice
- Mint syrup (Mint leaves, water, and sugar)
- Ginger beer
- .75 oz Butterfly Pea Flower Tea (Loose butterfly pea flower tea)
HOW TO MAKE IT
STEP 1: Mint Syrup
- Put 1/2 cup of water and a healthy handful of mint leaves in a pot with the lid on
- Simmer for 15 minutes
- With a slotted spoon, remove the mint leaves, then add 1 cup of sugar
- Simmer until all sugar is dissolved
- Allow the mixture to cool
- Store in a glass jar in the fridge
STEP 2: Make Tea
- Add loose butterfly pea flower tea to boiling water and let steep (follow the direction on the tea packet for best results)
STEP 3: Mix Drink
- Add 2 oz. Uncle Nearest 1884 Whiskey to the bottom of a chilled tall glass
- Add 2 tbs. of fresh lime juice, then 1/2 oz. of mint syrup, stir well with a long spoon
- Add ice and fill the glass almost to the top with chilled ginger beer and stir gently
- Add 3/4 oz. of chilled Butterfly Pea Flower Tea, you will notice that the color of the tea will magically change as you add it to other liquid - allow the tea to slowly mingle with the drink and enjoy the show
- Garnished with a mint leaves and dried Butterfly Pea Flower Tea
