5 Dine Around Seattle Specials that will Blow Your Mind

If you love dining out with friends and family but your budget doesn’t allow you to go out as much as you’d like, March is going to be a wonderful month for you. Thanks to the folks at Seattle Good Business Network, you can try the cuisine at Seattle’s hottest restaurants at special, reduced prices through the Dine Around Seattle promotion. Text your friends, call your mom, make plans with your co-workers and get ready to get social!

Here’s the deal:

Participating restaurants create a three-item combo at a prix fixe price of either $22, $33 or $44. Restaurants have the freedom to feature whatever items they want – it could be an appetizer, entrée and dessert; an entrée, dessert and cocktail, two small plates and a cocktail – the combinations are endless. Some restaurants will also offer an $18 lunch. The promotion lasts from March 5th through the 23rd.

You’re probably thinking that this sounds awesome, but we haven’t even gotten to the most awesome part: this initiative does wonderful things for Seattle’s economy. Every dollar you spend at an independent business creates three times more jobs, income and wealth for the community than the same dollar spent at a national chain. Because many participating restaurants source their ingredients from local farms, fisheries and breweries, the impact of your choice is compounded to benefit even more local businesses.

Here’s a quick look at what five of our favorite participating restaurants are offering:

1. Seven Beef – For a more affordable (and totally impressive) date night

This innovative steak shop sources locally for its outstanding grass-fed beef and prepares it over a wood fire. Seven Beef also serves its own take on its namesake dish: Bò 7 Món, the traditional Vietnamese dinner featuring beef seven ways.

The menu for Dine Around Seattle opens with either a Grilled Romaine Salad with lime, aioli and anchovy or a Butternut Squash Soup, then a Tenderlion ($44 option) or Roasted Chicken ($33 option), and finally Chocolate Mousse or Rice Pudding. That means that if you’re footing the bill for date night, you can score a fancy three-course steak dinner for two for around a hundred bucks with tip. It’s an opportunity to create fond memories with a someone special without blowing your monthly budget.

2. Capitol Cider – For gluten-free folks and the people who love them

Gluten-free eaters and drinkers rejoice! Capitol Cider serves up 100% gluten-free fare, stressing local sourcing, from-scratch cooking and classic recipes with a twist. This restaurant gives those on gluten-free diets a chance to go out and socialize without having to worry about screening the menu.

During Dine Around Seattle, you can get a three-course meal for $33. Start with your choice of salads (ours is the Beets and Cress Salad with Citrus), then choose from Jerk Chicken, Mushroom Rigatoni or Carolina Pork Ribs, and finally pick from three delectable desserts including Chocolate Pudding, Apple Crisp and Spoon Cheesecake. Who knew that gluten-free could sound so good? Also serving a lunch menu during Dine Around Seattle – three courses for $18!

3. Poppy – For the adventurous eater

Poppy’s menus features thalis, or platters of small dishes. Their Dine Around Seattle menu offers three courses for $33 and features options with interesting ingredients. Adventurous eaters will want to try the Herbed Rabbit Sausage, Nettle Agnolotti or Lavender Crusted Duck Leg and finish the meal with the Buttermilk Lime Panna Cotta, while those who prefer more traditional fare will find plenty of more tame options.

Take your boldest friends or organize an outing with coworkers to shake up your routine and try new foods together.

4. Chinapie – For the fusion fanatic

This restaurant features Italian and Asian-inspired cuisine, delivering fun and unexpected combinations. During Dine Around Seattle, you can get three items for $22. This is a fun, affordable option for larger groups where not everyone can swing a steeper prix fixe price.

Open with an alcoholic beverage then choose from offerings like Chicken Pho Soup Dumplings, Shrimp Dumplings or Confit Chicken Wings with basil, chilies and fish sauce for the second offering. For the third course, pick a pizza like the Uncle Sau Pizza, which features fish sauce, pork, cilantro pesto, jalapeño, fresh mozzarella and grana.

5. Steelhead Diner – For locovores

This smart casual restaurant features an exclusively Northwest wine and beer list and sources from 13 different local producers. Get a three-course dinner for $44 and choose from items like the Bourbon Butter Gulf Shrimp, Grilled Carlton Farms Pork Chop a la Saltimbocca and Pan Seared Hawaiian Albacore Tuna.

Steelhead Diner also has some of the best dessert options in all of Dine Around Seattle, in our humble opinion. [Just try to] pick from Theo Chocolate Pecan Pie with Bourbon Whipped Cream and Cocoa Bins, Tiramisu Cheesecake with Espresso Anglaise, and Strawberry Rhubarb Cake with Oatmeal Streusel. Steelhead is also offering a lunch menu – three courses for $18. Grab some friends and go out for a fancy lunch on the weekend or make it a special evening with your significant other – either way, you’ve love the flavors of this local fare.
